Judges at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts have selected Quarrel as one of three nominations for “Best Game” at this year’s British Academy Scotland Awards. These awards recognise excellence in film, television and video games in Scotland.
While various members of Denki have been part of teams that have won recognition from BAFTA over the years this is only the second time one of Denki’s games has been nominated directly. The previous time was back in 2002 when Denki Blocks! was nominated for Best Mobile Phone Game but lost out to a multiplayer chess game.
It’s a bit of a “Dundee Clean Sweep” in the games category this year, with all three nominations hailing from the City of Discovery. With regards other categories we’re particularly pleased to see Burnistoun and Limmy’s Show nominated for “Best Entertainment Program”. If you haven’t already discovered these great shows from Glasgow’s Comedy Unit you really need to check them out.
The ceremony takes place on Sunday 13th November and it’s sure to be a star-studded event to which we’ll obviously be contributing our own special brand of “Denki Glamour”.
We’re currently running a Quarrel league to determine who’ll be there representing Denki and, unsurprisingly, Sean and Gary are currently leading the charge. But there’s still plenty time for that to change.
So thanks to the BAFTA judges for their nod – it’s appreciated by everyone here at Denki HQ. And congratulations to all this year’s nominees!
Colin.
