Last weekend, Paul and I took a couple of Xboxes loaded with Quarrel down to the British Matchplay Scrabble Championship in Yarnfield, near Stoke.
Our intention was to demonstrate the game to some seriously good word game players, and that we did. We were made to feel very welcome by everyone there (and thanks for sharing your biscuits with us!). I’m delighted with the response to the game, and all the fantastic feedback we received from players of all ages.
Everyone played head-to-head matches, and nothing quite beats watching people get caught up in the tension and drama of an epic battle between expert wordsmiths! At one point we had a crowd 2 or 3 deep watching the match unfold. As expected, Paul and I both learned some new words to bring back to the office, although I’ve not yet had a chance to use any of them.
Unfortunately, we had to leave early (due to my flooding in my flat!), so apologies to those that didn’t get a chance to try out the game. Congratulations to all the winners, and sorry that we weren’t there to award your prizes. You can see pictures from the event here.
Thanks to everyone who took time to stop by and play (or even just watch others play) – we’ve collated all your feedback, and will address what we can over the next few weeks.
